Marsy’s Law Advances to the House Finance Committee

Marsy’s Law for Tennessee (HJR 0094) cleared another legislative checkpoint when members of the House Criminal Justice Committee voted unanimously to pass it through to the House Finance, Ways, and Means Committee for consideration.

Sponsored in the House by Finance Committee Chair Patsy Hazlewood (R-27), Marsy’s Law has been joined by several major House co-sponsors: Lamberth (R-44), Doggett (R-70), Hulsey (R-2), Davis (R-18), Moody (R-81), Hardaway (D-93), and Jernigan (D-60). This bipartisan effort moves forward with support from the Tennessee Sheriffs Association as well the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police and is expected to be heard by the House Finance Committee in the coming weeks. Marsy’s Law is sponsored in the Senate by Senator John Stevens (R-24).

As always, the Marsy’s Law team remains grateful for the volunteers, advocates, and champions who have contributed to this legislative progress. Please join us in thanking our legislators for recognizing the importance of enforceable rights for Tennessee crime victims.

Marsy’s Law is on the move!
