Marsy’s Law PASSES the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee in Unanimous Vote
On Tuesday lawmakers voted unanimously to PASS Marsy’s Law for Tennessee (HJR 0094) through to the House Criminal Justice Committee for consideration.
Sponsored in the House by Finance, Ways, and Means Committee Chair Patsy Hazlewood (R-27), Marsy’s Law has been joined by several major House co-sponsors: Lamberth (R-44), Doggett (R-70), Hulsey (R-2), Davis (R-18), and Moody (R-81). It also moves forward with support from the Tennessee Sheriffs Association and the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police. It is expected to be heard by the full House Criminal Justice Committee on Tuesday, March 7. Marsy’s Law is sponsored in the Senate by Senator John Stevens (R-24), who vice-chairs the Senate Finance, Ways, and Means Committee as well as the Senate Ethics Committee.
